After opening our doors in 1953, InterContinental Madrid has always committed to a socially responsible approach in order to protect the environment in which our business operates.

We use the IHG Green Engage system, an innovative online environmental sustainability system that gives our hotel the means to measure and manage our impact on the environment. We can choose from over 200 ‘Green Solutions’ that are designed to help us reduce our energy, water and waste, and improve our impact on the environment.

Moreover, our hotel accomplish Green Globe certification committed to operating to the highest level of sustainability, managing the use of energy and water as well as promoting reuse and recycling of materials and investing in protecting the culture and heritage of their host destination.

InterContinental Madrid has developed a programme to promote job placement for young people, within the framework of IHG’s mission to provide opportunities that integrate training and employment, facilitating the transition to a solid and sustainable working future within our policy.

The aim of this initiative is to provide young people not only with a job, but also with a comprehensive training experience that enhances their skills, contributes to their professional development and enables them to adapt to today’s dynamic labour market. As part of this programme, the first young people have been hired, co-financed by the European Social Fund and the Community of Madrid in its line ‘Promotion of alternating training contracts for young people’.
